Facebook As A Marketing Tool For Your Business

Thursday, July 17th 2014 9:24pm

As promised in an earlier post here is advice on how you can use Facebook to help promote your business. FB can be a great marketing tool if you make the effort to apply it correctly to your company.
Firstly you need to create a Facebook Page, this is not the same as your Facebook account but a Page which you can devote entirely to your business. It is very easy to create a Page for your business, you need to make the URL of the Page relevant to the business as this is what the Page will be identified by.

You have the opportunity to upload a profile photo and a large cover photo to the Page, so make sure you pick 2 really good pictures as these are the window to your FB Page and what everyone sees first when they come across your Page.

In the Settings section check out the About Us part and in this I would start with the URL of your website as this will then be a clickable link, and so will be a good promotion for your website as well as a good backlink to your site. There is another section to fill in where you can put in a longer description of your business and I suggest you fill this with as much information as you can. The more detail you give in all the Settings areas the more likely your FB Page will get noticed.

Once you have done all of the above you then need to start posting on your Page. You obviously need to post information about your business but try to make it as entertaining as you can. You can add pictures, link to videos and other sites including your own website, and it is good to Share other Pages posts, as if you do this they are more likely to Like your Page and reciprocate by Sharing your posts too.

Once you have made a dozen or so posts you can then start to Like other Pages and in doing this you can get their posts in your Newsfeed and then you can comment on and Like their posts. If you are doing this then more likely than not they will Like your Page too. The more active you are and the more you engage with people the more you will get out of your FB Page. You can also invite friends from your FB account to Like your Page.

Use the Facebook developer tools to embed a FB button on your website so people can find your FB Page directly from the site.

In a future post I am going to give information on Facebook Ads and how you can use them to your advantage.
